1. Eckerd College. This university is located in St. Petersburg, Florida and they have one of the oldest programs for pets-in-residence in the country. If you go to this university, you will be allowed to bring your dog or cat but they only allow those that are below 40 pounds. Also, ducks, rabbits and ferrets can even live with the students in one of their five houses for pets. They even allow small domestic animals within the dorms! Also, for the dogs and cats, they must be at least one year old and must have lived with the family of the student for at least 10 months. Aggressive breeds of dogs like pit bulls and Rottweilers are strictly not allowed. All pets must be registered with the Pet Council of Eckerd College.
2. Stephens College. This university is located in Columbia, Missouri. It is considered one of the top colleges for women in the country. They allow almost any domestic pet in their Pet Central, or also known as Searcy Hall, the designated dorm for pets. They allow cats and dogs. However, some breeds are not allowed like the Rottweiler, Pit Bulls and wolf breeds. Stephens College also has a doggie daycare on campus and they have a program for the students that allow them to foster pets. They do this through a local no-kill rescue organization called Columbia Second Chance. However, they have limited space for pets so make sure that you apply to live in the dorm that specifically allows pets.
